How to study (step by step)

  1. Start your application

    At age 15½ or older, begin your application online with the Hawaii DMV. (Parental/guardian consent required if under 18.)

  2. Take the Diagnostic Test

    See where you stand before you start full practice sets.

  3. Practice Tests (At least 2–3 sets)

    Complete at least 2–3 sets. Short 10-minute sessions tend to work best.

  4. Clear your mistakes

    Review mistakes in the Challenge Bank and fix each one.

  5. Practice exam simulator

    Keep practicing until you’re consistently scoring 80% or higher.

The Hawaii permit test has 30 questions. You must get 24 correct (80%) to pass.
