At age 14½ or older, begin your application online with the Idaho DMV. (Parental/guardian consent required if under 18.)

- Clear your mistakes
Open the Challenge Bank and fix every missed question, one by one.
- Practice exam simulator
Keep practicing until you’re consistently scoring 85% or higher.
- 3–5 short study sessions per week
- 80–120 total practice questions
ID DMV permit test - what to expect
The Idaho permit test has 40 questions. You must get 34 correct (85%) to pass.
- Where: Any Idaho DMV office (find locations)
- Bring: ID + SSN + residency proof + permit/license fee (see checklist)
- If you fail: Retake after 3 days.
- Commonly missed: speed limits on highways, city streets, and residential areas, emergency vehicle right-of-way.
