In Georgia, your path to a Class C driver’s license can start when you’re at least 15 years old. It includes passing three tests: a vision test, a knowledge exam, and a road test. The knowledge exam has two parts: Road Signs and Road Rules. Each part has 20 questions. Both parts are based on the official driver’s manual (Georgia DDS Handbook (GA Driver's Manual) 2025). You must pass both parts; the passing score for each part is 75%. You must take the knowledge test at a DDS Customer Service Center, not online. If you fail one of the two parts, you can retake just that one part. However, you must wait one day before retesting.
Many of the other requirements for a driver’s license depend on your age.
If you’re under 18, you must go through the Georgia Graduated Driver’s Licensing (GDL) program, a three-stage process. The first stage is an instructional permit. The requirements include obtaining consent from a parent or guardian and passing the vision and knowledge tests. The second stage is a Class D provisional license. The requirements include holding the instructional permit for one year plus one day and passing a road test. The final stage is the Class C driver’s license, which will be issued to you after you turn 18.
If you’re at least 18 years old, you won’t participate in GDL, and an instruction permit is optional. (However, you should get one if you need more supervised driving practice.) You may take the road test as soon as you feel ready for it. Once you pass it, you’ll be issued a Class C driver’s license.
This is our fourth Georgia Permit Practice Test. We designed it to help aspiring drivers like you pass the DDS knowledge test. These practice tests are also based on the official Georgia driver’s manual. Feel free to ask our AI Assistant for help with any practice question. It can give you hints or explanations or answer your own questions about driving.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a PDF list of the exact Georgia questions and answers you’ll encounter on your knowledge test. To create a knowledge test, the DDS draws questions randomly from an extensive database of available questions, so we can’t predict the exact questions you’ll face. However, we have created two PDF “cheat sheets” (i.e., quick references, not for actual cheating!) that you can download: “The Top 100 Most Common US DMV Questions” and “The 121 Most Common US Road Signs Questions.” You will likely encounter at least some of these questions on your knowledge test.
